Trail and paths  Between 29 Jul and 10 Aug the Long Trail Patrol cleared tent sites, built steps on interior paths and down to the water, and built foundations for the tent platforms.
Fly-in of materials  Fly-in occurred as scheduled on 18 July. On the 17th we took delivery of the shelter kit and transported material for tent platforms and privy and tools to the Honey Hollow trailhead.
Build paths  On 18 May we cleared the various paths to and in the site.
Site Planning  On 4 May we determined that the site was adequate and marked the location for shelter, privy, and tent platforms.
Montpelier Section Annual Meeting Plans for the construction were presented. The Section approved the annual budget, which called for $2,500 to be spent for the shelter.
Site visit to the builder Eric, Bill, Fred, and Dave visited the prospective builder in Hardwick. They presented modifications, including expanding the width to 18 feet The builder returned a bid of $6634, delivered.
Meeting with the Duxbury Land Trust Fred, Dave, and John met with the members of the Land Trust on 22 March. The discussion concerned the route the relocated Long Trail would take south of the Winooski. Two routes, other than "Route A" and "Route C" which Greg Western mapped, were considered. The trail could leave Bamforth Ridge near the ski-around trail and follow the eastern edge of the Camels Hump State Park west of a snowmobile trail. An alternate route would retain the Bamforth Ridge route head easterly near the Gleason Brook Crossing. It was decided that the latter was preferable and should be explored. The Trust's main concern was with wildlife, in particular bobcat and the bobcat's food supply.
Duxbury Land Trust Scouting Hike Fred and Dave hiked with the members of the Trust on 25 March to the proposed site.
